Volcanoes National Park Earns 2012 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence

It was with excitement and honor that we received the 2012 TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award given to Volcanoes National Park recently. “We are very proud to receive great feedback from our visitors and this is very encouraging and we remain committed to deliver good service to our visitors in all our national parks and beyond” said Rica Rwigamba The Head of Tourism and Conservation.

The accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given  only to accommodations, restaurants and attractions that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on  TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.

To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain  an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed  by travelers on TripAdvisor. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

“TripAdvisor is pleased to honor exceptional businesses for consistent excellence,  as reviewed by travellers on the site,” said Christine Petersen, president of TripAdvisor for Business.
“The Certificate of Excellence award gives highly rated establishments around  the world the recognition they deserve. From exceptional accommodations in Beijing to  remarkable restaurants in Boston, we want to applaud these businesses for offering  TripAdvisor travellers a great customer experience.”

Rwandan Journalists Discover Nyungwe National Park - 26 to 28 September 2012

On 27th September 2012 Rwanda joined the rest of the World to commemorate the World Tourism Day.

The Rwanda Development Board used this opportunity to increase awareness among fellow Rwandans on some of the Tourism Attractions. A 3 day familiarization trip of 30 including journalists and other marketing partners was organized in Nyungwe National Park.
Throughout this trip journalists experienced the main tourism attractions in Nyungwe. It was exciting to see how amazed the journalists were at the variety of activities that Nyungwe offers.

We realized that so much is still unknown mainly to our own people who are key partners in promoting our destinations. By the number of articles and videos that have been shared with us after just few days, we are conscious of the huge potential that we have in marketing our vast variety of products. We are yet to educate our own brothers and sisters and have put it high on our agenda. Our theme for the last two years as we celebrate World Tourism Day has been Tourism - It begins with You. Needless to say that today more than ever this theme is still valid.

We are confident that we will see more Rwandans discovering their own country and we will continue to endeavor to share with them any information about our beautiful sites that the Land of a Thousand Hills offers.
