Gorilla Permit Reservation Policy

  • Booking is done with full details of the client; Names, telephone number, email and fax
  • Booking/Reservation; Booking a Gorilla permit is done with a non refundable fee of 100$ apart from the nationals (Rwandese) and full payment is done strictly a month (30days) before,
  • With effect from 1/6/2007, booking will be done with a non refundable fee of 200 $ 30 days before the date of visiting,
  • Rwandese/Nationals do not require any booking fee , they are expected to pay the full amount at the time of booking,
  • In case of cancellation, a client is charged a 50$ fee
  • Refunds; any client who shall not have visited shall only be refunded on the following grounds;

    o If he /she falls sick or faces any unforeseeable conditions on or before the visiting day; the client shall, with proof, inform the receptionists who will communicate to the relevant authorities and a refund shall be processed,

    o If ORTPN agents prohibit the client from visiting in relation to his condition affecting the animals: the clients’ permit shall be transferred with no charge, in case of tour operators but if a walk in client does not wish to transfer, a refund shall be made to such a client,

    o If the client cancels the visit and informs ORTPN in writing at least two weeks before trekking, this will enable ORTPN to sell the permit,

    o If the client fails to trek without any explanations, ORTPN has all the rights not to refund any cash,

    o All refunds are done using a refund form that has been designed especially for this, without a refund form , there shall be no refunds,

  • For any clients who shall pay advance but inform the Reservation desk about their inability to trek atleast 45 days before, these permits shall be transferred to a later date with a transfer charge fee of 50$ and 100$ after 1/6/2007 per head,
  • Permits; every client is expected to present their original copy of the permit which is retained at the ORTPN offices in Kinigi
  • All clients are to pay strictly by means of cheques and not ‘Payment Orders’. (Ordre De paiement)
  • Reservation officers not to accept cash of more than $1500 per person. all cash over and above this amount shall be deposited by the client to the ORTPN accounts and a pay slip submitted to ORTPN before a gorilla permit is issued,
  • Documents necessary for obtaining a Gorilla permit:

    o Photocopy of a Passport or Identity Card

    o Proof of residential status

    o Special groups; proof of the understanding/Document (e.g Rhenanie Palatinat)

  • The Reservation Desk is open Monday-Friday from 7.00am to 5.00pm and on Weekends from 8.00am-2.00pm
